Paul James, patient adviser, has published an article in Inclusion North about his recent experience of speed dating and being the only attendee with a learning disability. He recounts how he enjoyed the events and how it helped with his confidence. He concludes that it is important for venues to talk to people with any type of disability and find out what reasonable adjustments can be made so that they can attend events. Also that family and support workers talk to the people they support about their life ambitions and how they can help them acheive them.
Paul has also been interviewed by Chronicle Live about relaunching his website “Living with Lowe’s” and how he is using social media to demystify his condition, dispel negativity around Lowe’s, give families hope and to show that people with learning disabilities can acheive and deserve the same opportunities as everyone else.
